I know that. You know that. Everyone knows that.
But because we often forget to remember, the singer thought to remind us all why we all agreed words are just enough to describe her talent in the first place. Words like amazing.
Fantabulous. Impeccable. Amazing!
And she chose the perfect event to pass her message: the independently-produced big-budget concert headlined by two of Africa’s biggest music stars; 2face ‘2baba’ Idibia and M.I Abaga.
She chose the perfect attire: a pair of tailored boot-cut burgundy pants with sequined sheer top that hugged her body well and enhanced her curves.
She chose the right songs: ‘I Wish’ and her hit duet with M.I, ‘One Naira’, and the right keys. She held her stomach with her right hand, her microphone with the left, and belted out the tunes of her life in just about ten minutes on stage.
When she first stepped at 12:50am last night, she held the mic tight and spoke to us. No she sang, a capella, to us. She asked us if she has our permission to flex her vocal skills. She used that voice to ask, in a sweet freestyle, whether she could use that voice to send us to heaven. You already know the answer.
Then she switched up the tempo and and mood. Then she worked the 8-man band into delivering what many journalists at THENETng have termed a king’s crowning moment.
Yes Waje is king and yesterday was her coronation.
